Israeli Premier League heavyweights Maccabi Tel Aviv have reportedly expressed strong interest in signing Asante Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil ahead of the January 2026 transfer window, according to Kumasi-based Wontumi FM.

The Congolese centre-back, who is in the final year of his contract with the Porcupine Warriors, has drawn attention with consistently impressive performances since joining the club in 2024 from Rahimo FC.

Maccabi Tel Aviv are understood to have tabled a $150,000 offer to secure the services of the 25-year-old defender, who has quickly become a key figure in Kotoko’s defensive line.

Kotoko, however, are yet to make a decision on the future of their in-demand skipper, with interest also reportedly coming from UAE side Dubai City ahead of the midseason transfer window.

Samba O’Neil has made 13 Ghana Premier League appearances this season, scoring twice. In the CAF Confederation Cup, he featured in four matches, netting a goal as Kotoko exited in the second preliminary round.

Since arriving in Kumasi, the rock-solid centre-back has amassed 47 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist, underscoring his influence on the Porcupine Warriors’ squad.
