Stephen Frimpong Manso, head coach of Bibiani Goldstars, has accepted they faced a very strong opposition in Accra Lions who handed a tough encounter and a very good run for their money.

The Miners succumbed to an outplayed 2-0 defeat to the Lions in the capital last Monday in the final fixture of Ghana Premier League match-week 26.

Two goals scored by Yahaya Mohammed and Daniel Awuni from each half was enough to hand the the Blue-Blacks all three points and to halt Goldstars five-game unbeaten run.

Speaking after the game, 'Mayanga' as affectionately known during his playing days', admitted they faced a well disciplined and possessive side and their inability to press them high up the pitch caused the defeat.

"It was a very difficult game. What we needed to do today was to prevent them from attacking from the back. We needed to press them and it was difficult. Travelling to Accra and playing two games in a week it was very difficult and we were not in a good physical position to deal with them,” the coach said.

Having lost their recent invincibility, the Yellow and Greens are now on the tenth position with 35 points and are four away from the top four.

They will host third-placed Aduana Stars this weekend at the Dun's Park in the next round of matches.
