Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has warned that his side must be at their very best when they host Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 5.

“Playing them, whether home or away, it won’t be easy. But we have set our target to win the league, and they are one of the teams we must overcome. At all costs, we should do our best to win this game,” Zito told AKSC Media.

The Porcupine Warriors opened their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea on September 13, a result that gave them early momentum. However, Zito admits the Lions present a sterner challenge as Kotoko seek to assert themselves as genuine title contenders.

Sunday’s clash will be Kotoko’s first home fixture of the season at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. With thousands of fans expected to pack the stands, the Kumasi giants will look to feed off the electric atmosphere as they aim to extend their winning start and strengthen their pursuit of the league crown.
