His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the owner and life patron of Asante Kotoko, has disclosed the rationale behind his decision to retain control of the club, citing ongoing financial obligations left by previous management.

During a meeting with players, coaching staff, and the interim management committee on Thursday, April 18, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II revealed that he has invested GHS5 million to settle some of the club's debts accumulated by past management.

"I spent GHS5 million to clear some of the debt left by past management. This is why I am reluctant to hand over my team to any individual at the moment," remarked Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Expressing his commitment to the club's financial stability, the Asantehene emphasized his determination to address the challenges before considering transferring control to any individual.

"I will personally call the GFA to dissolve Kotoko before you take the club to relegation," added Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

In the midst of financial concerns, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II urged Asante Kotoko to urgently reverse their poor form, marked by seven consecutive winless games. With an upcoming Ghana Premier League match against Samartex FC, Otumfuo implored the team to secure victory in the upcoming contest.
