Asante Kotoko's versatile midfielder, Justice Blay, has expressed his readiness to extend his contract with the club as the new Ghana Premier League season approaches.
The 32-year-old midfielder has been adapted into a defensive role over the past season, and despite the team's struggles, Blay's commitment to the club remains steadfast.
Blay, initially known for his midfield prowess, was deployed primarily as a defender last season. However, he is now prepared to sign a new deal if the club presents an offer. "I am happy at Kotoko so I will definitely renew my contract when the authorities want me to stay," he told the media during the club's open day with the press.
Asante Kotoko has faced numerous challenges in recent seasons, experimenting with various players in different positions. However, Blay's versatility and dedication have been a bright spot for the team. The midfielder's ability to adapt to different roles has been instrumental in helping Kotoko navigate their challenges.
As the new season approaches, Blay is looking forward to continuing his career with the Porcupine Warriors. The team will take their preseason preparations to another level with a friendly against Medeama SC on Friday, August 16, 2024, to inaugurate the new T and A Stadium. Following this, the team will travel to Washington DC for an international friendly against DC United.
The new league season will commence in the first week of September, with Kotoko set to face Karela United in their opening match.
