Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford has urged for tempered expectations as his team prepares for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, highlighting that the squad's performance will largely depend on the resources and preparations at their disposal.

After a narrow penalty shootout loss to Hearts of Oak in the Homowo Cup, Hayford reflected on the challenges that lie ahead for the Lions.

Last season, the team finished in 13th place with 45 points, and as they gear up for the 2024/25 campaign, Hayford remains pragmatic about their prospects.

“I cannot sit here and make definitive predictions about our success,” Hayford told Peace FM. “The performance will depend on the resources and materials I have at my disposal. Once the league starts and I see how well we have prepared, I will have a better idea. For now, it’s too early to make accurate forecasts.”

Hayford emphasized the importance of assessing his team's capabilities and observing the performance of other clubs during the early stages of the season before making any concrete statements about their chances.

“Let’s start the league, observe the players, and watch a few matches of other clubs before drawing any conclusions,” he added.

Heart of Lions will kick off their Ghana Premier League campaign against Aduana Stars, with Hayford’s measured approach aimed at building a competitive team for the season ahead.
