Asante Kotoko are working urgently behind the scenes to secure new deals for several key players whose contracts are nearing expiration, according to Communications Director Sarfo Duku.

Speaking to Luv FM, Duku confirmed that players including Samba Oneil, goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, Peter Amidou Acquah and Joseph Ablorh are all close to the end of their current deals.

Duku noted that while negotiations have begun positively, the club is encountering significant hurdles due to high demands from the players involved.

“From management’s side, we are doing everything possible to keep at least the players we want to continue with,” Duku explained.

“Talks are ongoing and the signs are good, even though the players are all looking outside. Five of our key players and naturally, they will demand big money because of the level they’ve reached.”

Duku emphasised that Kotoko value the investment made in these players and hope to secure extensions before considering any transfers.

“We believe Kotoko has invested in them, so even if they have to leave, the first step is to renew their contracts. When an offer comes, we won’t place obstacles in their way.”

He added that Kotoko remain committed to building a strong squad but must balance ambition with financial sustainability.

“We are submitting proposals for them to consider for renewal. These extensions won’t prevent them from moving if it is in their best interest and in Kotoko’s interest.”
