Former Black Stars midfielder Afriyie Acquah has openly expressed his desire to sign for Hearts of Oak, despite being a long-time supporter of their fierce rivals, Asante Kotoko.
Speaking on Aluta FM in Adenta, Acquah made clear that he is ready to don the famous rainbow colours should the opportunity arise.
“I support Asante Kotoko, but I want to play for Hearts of Oak. I’m ready and willing to join the Phobians now,” Acquah said.
The experienced midfielder, who has featured for clubs in Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Turkey, remains without a club and has been linked with a possible return to the Ghana Premier League.
His declaration has stirred debate among fans of both sides, with Hearts supporters welcoming the news while some Kotoko followers have expressed surprise at his stance.
Acquah, 33, developed his early career in Ghana at Glentoran Football Academy in Sunyani before moving to Europe, making over 300 appearances across top leagues and earning 38 caps for the Black Stars.
Should a move materialise, he would become one of the most high-profile signings in the Ghana Premier League in recent seasons.
