Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has acknowledged injury setbacks in his squad, particularly in midfield, but maintains the Porcupine Warriors are prepared for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.

Kotoko kick off their season with a tough away clash against Berekum Chelsea on Saturday. Speaking to AKSC Media, Zito revealed that some of his key midfielders will be unavailable, including Richmond Ntim and Baba, who are sidelined with injuries.

“In terms of injuries, we are still facing problems in midfield. Ntim is not likely to feature in the first half of the season and Baba is also not well, so we are left with only Antwi in the middle until the new players settle,” Zito explained.

Despite these challenges, the coach remains confident that his side will rise to the occasion, stressing that new signings will be handed opportunities to fill the void.

“We are trying to let them play together and gel, but that takes time. This doesn’t mean we are not ready — we are ready to play. It may not be perfect from the start, but we will compete,” he added.
