As calls for his inclusion in the AFCON squad grow louder, Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey has responded with humility and determination.

Lamptey, displaying exceptional form this season, has become a focal point in Kotoko's quest to rebound from a challenging start.

Notable figures like former Ghana Star Charles Taylor and ex-Asante Kotoko Coach and player Michael Osei as well as veteran journalist, Kwabena Yeboah have advocated strongly for Lamptey's presence in the Black Stars lineup.

In an interview with the Kotoko media, Lamptey shared his perspective on the clamor, stating, "I've heard calls for my inclusion in the Black Stars call-up. But as a professional player, these things shouldn't get into your head but rather should encourage you to work harder so you bring out your best. I won't be swollen-headed, but I will keep working hard."

Highlighting his national experience, Lamptey emphasized his dedication to the game, having represented Ghana across various age-limit teams. His journey includes contributing to Ghana's victory in the WAFU 2017 tournament.

As the Black Stars gear up for the African Cup of Nations, Lamptey's grounded approach and commitment to hard work could prove vital in breaking the trophyless streak that has lingered for over four decades.
