Asante Kotoko Communications Director Sarfo Duku has assured fans that the team will be fully prepared ahead of their 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The Ghana Premier League giants have been drawn against Nigerian side Kwara United in the first round of the preliminary stage. The first leg will take place at Kotoko’s home between September 19 and 21, with the return leg in Nigeria scheduled for September 26 to 28.

Speaking to Asempa FM ahead of the tie, Duku stressed the importance of thorough preparation to avoid any slip-ups.

“Playing in Africa is like going to war, so you must be ready for any opponent. On paper, people might think it’s a done deal for Asante Kotoko, but it’s not so,” he said.

“Kwara United are from a football country, and qualifying for the Confederation Cup means they have invested in their team. You cannot underestimate them. Kotoko must prepare well to avoid any embarrassment. The focus now must be on Kwara United and securing qualification for the next round before thinking about facing Wydad.”

The winner of the tie will face Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the second round of the competition.

Kotoko are currently in Cape Coast for the second phase of their pre-season training and will later participate in the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament in Accra as part of their preparations.
