Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are reportedly plotting a sensational player-plus-cash move to lure Hearts of Oak’s star striker Hamza Issah to Kumasi ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

Sources close to the Porcupine Warriors indicate that the club has identified Issah as a key target to bolster their attacking line, following a fluctuating campaign that saw their forwards struggle for consistency in front of goal.

Hamza Issah, 26, has been one of Hearts of Oak’s standout performers within the last two seasons, netting 4 goals and providing a sizable assists in 25 league appearances. His strength, pace, and eye for goal have made him one of the most sought-after young talents in the domestic league.

Kotoko, determined to rebuild and challenge for the title next season, are said to be ready to include a fringe attacker and have prepared an hefty undisclosed transfer fee in their yet to be submitted bid to convince Hearts to release their prized asset.

A source within Kotoko’s technical setup hinted at ongoing internal discussions.

The potential move is expected to stir controversy among fans, with supporters of both clubs weighing in on social media. Transfers between the two traditional rivals are rare and often emotionally charged, given the fierce history between the clubs.

Hearts of Oak are yet to officially respond to the reported interest, but insiders suggest the Phobians are reluctant to lose Issah to their arch-rivals, especially after his last two breakthrough seasons in which he emerged as a vital part of their attacking setup.

The transfer window officially opens on Monday, June 23, 2025, and this developing story is expected to be one of the headline sagas in what promises to be a dramatic off-season.
