Ahmed Rahman's 73rd minute header salvaged a point for Legon Cities in their pulsating 1-1 stalemate with Karela United at the Red Bull Arena in GPL match-week 10 opener.
The Royals begun really well, having sent two shots at goal in the opening five minutes but Adu Meider unfortunately had all his sleek efforts miss the post by inches.
Karela United broke on a counter on the 8th minute, Umar Faruk made a blistering run to make his way through the box but his teammate Richard Berko run into his way to strike wide.
The homesters came very close to grabbing the lead after Samuel Armah had his connection from Michael Otou's cross went off the crossbar.
The visitors nipped on a poor execution from the host to initiate a counter, building up from the right, Enoch Agblenyo sets up Augustine Boakye in what looked like a huge chance but was blocked by Nii Bortey.
On the 29th minute, Michael Otou dinked in a beautiful pass to Ahmed Rahman, setting him up in a one on one situation but couldn't make it count as goalkeeper Felix Kyei comes off his line to grab.
Karela United finally snatched the lead through Emmanuel Owusu Boakye on the 36th minute with a cool finish finish after collecting a sumptuous defence splitting pass from Umar Faruk.
In the second half, the 'Pride and Passion' outfit left off from where they ended at half time with some series of attacks in the opening minutes but all proved futile.
Legon Cities settled subsequently and begun to pose more threats after Adu Meider once again came inside two defenders to reach the edge of the box but fired wide for a restart.
The home team kept on piling so much pressure on the visitors in search for the equalizer but it seemingly not working despite trying from all angles.
Ahmed Rahman picked up Suleman Mohammed just at the edge of the box but his effort took a deflection and went straight at Felix Kyei.
And finally, Ahmed Rahman scored with a header to draw Legon Cities back on level on the 73rd minute.
The ex- Hearts of Lions forward was left all alone at far post to connect after Suleman Mohammed has had his header from Ampadu's corner kick went off the upright.
Quick response for Karela United after going down but Richard Berko's turning strong effort missed the post by few inches. That was close!
It finished 1-1 after full time. Legon Cities are now 6th on the league standing with 15 points whereas Karela United remain 11th on the log with 12 points.
