Asante Kotoko with a blistering performance to humble Medeama SC by a resounding 0-2 win at the Akoon Park in an epic match-week 31 of the Ghana Premier League.
The home team with a daring start in search of the opener, Darlington Gyan Fosu broke on and sent in a cross but was piled out with a timely intervention from Danlad Ibrahim.
On the 11th minute, Evans Adomako made a run down the flanks and sent a cross which found Frank Etouga but his header went off the post. Nearly!
Asante Kotoko dominated the game, dictated the pattern and looked like the home team leaving their opponents chasing only shadows.
Finally, their constant pressure yielded a results on the 23rd minute after center-back Andrews Appau rose high over everyone to connect a corner kick with a towering header to break the deadlock in Tarkwa.
Just on the stroke of half time, Asante Kotoko got their second and it came from who else? Frank Etouga Mbella who picked up a pass from Mudasiru, floored goalkeeper John Moosie before plotting into the net to mark his 20th of the season. Wonderful eye-seeing it was!
Kotoko with a numerical disadvantage after Mudasiru Salifu was shown a second yellow card and had to take an early shower even before the break.
In the second half, Kotoko again started the very well, Nettey combines with Etouga to send in cut-back pass, a poor clearance from Atingah fell on Richmond Lamptey but his drive was collected calmly by John Moosi.
Medeama SC given a free kick on the 58th minute. Kwesi Donsu with a tricky delivery but was dealt with nicely by Danlad Ibrahim.
The Mauves and Yellows took total control of the game, dominated possession, made some decent attempts but struggled to find the back of the net.
Kwadwo Asamoah from the bench and nearly got a goal again but his shot was parried with a great save once again from Danlad Ibrahim, who has been so good this afternoon.
It ended 0-2 for Asante Kotoko after full time. Crucial win for the Porcupine Warriors away from home.
