Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko believes securing a victory against Basake Holy Stars will provide his team with a crucial confidence boost ahead of their upcoming clash with Hearts of Oak.
The Yellow and Mauves will host Basake Holy Stars at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Tuesday for a Ghana Premier League Matchday 21 fixture. With their eyes set on back-to-back wins, Medeama aim to strengthen their position on the league table before traveling to Accra to face Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
“We are playing at home, and we definitely want to take all three points so that it gives us the confidence to go to Accra for our next game,” Tanko stated at his pre-match press conference.
Medeama enter the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Aduana FC on March 23 and have the upper hand historically, having defeated Basake Holy Stars 2-1 in their previous encounter six months ago.
Basake Holy Stars, on the other hand, are struggling with form, having suffered consecutive defeats to Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars. They have also conceded in each of their last 10 away matches and remain winless in their last seven games.
Medeama currently sit seventh in the league with 35 points from 23 matches, while Basake Holy Stars are 13th with 27 points. A win for Medeama would boost their momentum ahead of their crucial trip to Accra.
