Medeama SC head coach Nebojsa Kapor has expressed his satisfaction with his team’s ability to score from diverse positions following their narrow 1-0 win over Legon Cities on Saturday.

The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League’s second matchday saw Legon Cities host reigning champions Medeama SC at the University of Ghana on September 14, 2024. Legon Cities, looking to recover from an opening defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars, were eager to leverage their home advantage, while Medeama aimed to maintain their momentum after a solid win over Accra Lions.

Despite Legon Cities dominating possession and creating multiple chances, a first-half goal from Kamaradini secured Medeama’s second consecutive win of the season, preserving their perfect start. The goal, which came against the run of play, was enough to hand the visitors all three points, while Medeama's resolute defense ensured they kept their second clean sheet of the campaign.

Legon Cities were left frustrated, as their failure to break down Medeama’s organized defense saw them fall to their second straight defeat, leaving them rooted at the bottom of the table. The loss also extended Medeama’s dominance over Legon Cities, marking their eighth win in ten meetings since 2020 and their third consecutive triumph over the Royals.

Speaking after the match, Coach Kapor downplayed concerns about his team’s attacking display, instead focusing on the positives of having goalscorers from various positions on the field. He expressed confidence in his team’s depth and versatility, noting, “I’m very okay if other players are given support, they are scoring from different positions and I don’t see a problem with it.”

He added, “We have set our goal for the season before the season started. We are not thinking what will happen in May or June, this is too far. The next match is the most important one.”

With six points from two games, Medeama SC temporarily sit atop the Ghana Premier League standings, while Legon Cities face mounting pressure as head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin looks to turn things around ahead of their next match against newly promoted Vision FC.
