Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC is set to receive a transfer ban from the World Football governing body for failing to comply with a decision of FIFA’s Player Status Committee.

In a decision from FIFA dated March 21, 2023, the Players’ Status Committee determined that Medeama SC has to pay an amount of Gh¢ 101,500 to Ivorian international Amed Toure for unlawful contract termination.

Toure's contract with the Yellow and Mauves lads was abrogated by the management of Medeama SC citing gross misconduct for the termination in June 2022.

However, the former Asante Kotoko striker and his representatives dragged the two-time FA Cup champions to the FIFA's Player Status Committee over a breach of contractual agreement.

Medeama SC were ordered to pay an amount of Gh¢ 60,900 and Gh¢ 40,600 as outstanding renumeration and compensation for breach of contract respectively to Amed Toure within 45 days.

The forty-five (45) days in the Players’ Status Committee of FIFA's ruling has elapsed and the Ghanaian top-flight league outfit refused to make payment to the 35-year-old striker.

A portion of the ruling states “The Respondent [Medeama SC] shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid. The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.”
