Former Asante Kotoko player and board chairman, Samuel Opoku Nti, famously known as 'Lord Zico', has commended the IMC for their decision to sack coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and added he is very hopeful they will win the league.

The Educationist got jettisoned almost a week ago after a string of poor results throwing a huge dent on the club's league winning hopes and has been replaced with another former player Abdul Karim Zito

The experienced gaffer got off to a brighter start over the weekend with a narrow 1-0 win over Aduana Stars in a very difficult at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The victory leaves the 'Kum Apem' lads still in fourth place with 50 points and are now just three away from the top-spot

Speaking in an interview on Akoma FM, Opoku Nti, who scored the club's winning goal in their last CAF Champions League glory in 1983, has expressed some level of confidence in Zito and strongly believes he will win the league for cup following what he saw in his first game in charge

"Zito has evolved in his career as a coach, he fights for things, and knows what he's doing.

"He can read the game very well and with the right support, I believe he'll deliver as a coach.

"Today's performance demonstrates that he (Zito) is a game changer and I feel Kotoko is capable of winning the league with Zito."

Asante Kotoko will play bitter rivals Hearts of Oak in the return leg this weekend
