Ghana national team head coach, Otto Addo, has singled out Medeama SC and FC Samartex as early contenders for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.
Addo's assessment follows his attendance at Medeama's 1-0 victory over Legon Cities in Matchday 2 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Addo had also witnessed Samartex’s recent triumph in the 2024 Ghana Super Cup, where they defeated Nsoatreman at the newly renovated TNA Stadium. On the same day, he observed Medeama’s narrow loss to Basake Holy Stars on penalties in the Apinto Cup.
"From what I saw of Medeama and Samartex, they are performing well," Addo remarked to the media after the Legon Cities match. "Maybe it's between these two, but I haven't watched all the matches yet. I'm eager to see Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and other top teams before making any definitive statements on who will win the league."
In addition to identifying title contenders, Addo expressed his desire to attend more Premier League matches this season to scout for home-based talents for the Black Stars.
