Nana Kwame Dankwah, First Vice Chairman of Asante Kotoko's National Circles Council, has disclosed that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has given Prosper Narteh Ogum a crucial mission to construct a strong team ahead of the upcoming Ghana Premier League season.
Ogum has returned to the club after a meeting involving Otumfuo, club legends, and supporters' representatives resulted in his reappointment.
The former WAFA coach has been entrusted with building a team capable of competing not only in the short term but also in the medium and long term.
"The King (Otumfuo Osei Tutu II) today after touring Adako Jachie Complex engaged the leadership of Asante Kotoko NCC, together with the legends, they addressed the technical team," Nana Kwame Dankwah told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
"Otumfuor advised that the technical team led by Prosper Ogum should build a formidable side not with the sole purpose of winning the league in the short term but a side that will be reliable and competitive in the medium and long-term," he added.
Prosper Narteh Ogum had previously managed the club during the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season, leading them to a league victory. However, he left the club in his second season due to disagreements with the management.
The 2023/24 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to commence in September later this year.
