The Police Service of Ghana say they are searching for a group of armed robbers who attacked a team bus and killed a player from Berekum Chelsea.
The Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service said the incident happened on Sunday, 12 April 2026, along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District.
According to police, a VIP bus carrying about 30 players and officials was travelling from Samreboi to Berekum when it was ambushed by six armed men.
Three of the attackers were said to be carrying pump-action guns.
Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road into a bush while trying to escape.
During the attack, Dominic Frimpong suffered gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the Bibiani Government Hospital.
Another passenger, George Owusu Afriyie, 52, was robbed of GH₵4,500, while other passengers also lost valuables.
Investigators say two spent BB cartridges were recovered at the scene as part of efforts to track down the suspects.
Police say additional officers and crime scene experts have been deployed, and a manhunt is underway to arrest those responsible.
