Bechem United are on the verge of appointing experienced tactician Kobina Amissah as their new head coach, according to reports from Asempa FM.
The move comes in the wake of Desmond Issah-Botchway’s dismissal on Monday, following a disappointing start to the season that has seen the Hunters pick up just one win from their opening eight matches.
Their struggles were compounded by a goalless home draw against Nations FC at the weekend, a result that left the club in the relegation zone and prompted management to act. Assistant coach Bright Anthony Konadu has also departed as part of the technical shake-up.
Amissah, a well-regarded figure within Ghanaian football circles, is expected to be unveiled alongside Mallam Yahaya, who is will serve as his assistant.
A seasoned campaigner, Amissah has managed several Premier League sides, including Elmina Sharks, Sekondi Hasaacas, and Berekum Chelsea. However, his crowning moment came when he led Bibiani GoldStars to their first-ever promotion to the Ghanaian top flight, a feat that cemented his reputation as a promotion specialist.
Should his appointment be confirmed, Amissah’s first test will be a demanding Matchday 9 clash away to Young Apostles this weekend, as he looks to inspire a much-needed turnaround for the wounded Hunters.
