Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has showered praise on the club's new signing, who has arrived to bolster the goalkeeping department.
The Porcupine Warriors have officially announced the acquisition of Guinean shot-stopper Mohamed Camara on a two-year deal after passing a mandatory medical examination.
Narteh Ogum, in an interview with the club's official website, expressed his excitement over the arrival of the 24-year-old goalkeeper ahead of their 2024–25 season's campaign.
“Mohamed Camara is an outstanding goalkeeper with incredible talent. His agility, quick reflexes, and ability to command his area make him a perfect fit for our team,” Ogum told the club's official website.
“He comes highly recommended, and we are confident he will be a great asset to our club.
Coach Ogum added: “Having him speak so positively about our club is a testament to the strong culture and unity we have here. We are happy, and we believe that with him, Frederick (Asare), and Fatao, we have a very solid goalkeeping group.”
Camara becomes the tenth signing for the Kumasi-based club in the ongoing transfer window.
What Mohamed Camara brings to the Asante Kotoko team
Camara is rated as one of the best shot-stoppers in Guinean football, having featured for the West African nation at the U17 level and making two senior debuts for the Syli National.
He was instrumental in the Guinea top-flight league after making an impressive 26 appearances last season for Soar Académie SC.
The 24-year-old previously played for AS Kaloum and made appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup for the club before moving to the SOAR Académie in January 2024.
Camara's addition will bring competition to the goalkeeping department of Asante Kotoko after the exit of Ibrahim Danlad and Moise Pouaty, leaving the club with Frederick Asare and youth goalkeeper Fatao Seidu.
