Black Stars first-choice goalie, Benjamin Asare isn’t having it easy at his club Hearts of Oak on the back of how great second-choice Solomon Agbasi has been in the few times he was handed the starting berth in goal.

Asare, has undoubtedly been the club’s first choice since his arrival last season and his heroics has subsequently made him the country’s number one having excelled very well during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Benjamin Asare at certain point this season was sidelined mainly due to national assignments and injuries. In his absence, Solomon Agbasi took over the mantle in goal and was outstanding with six clean sheets from eight games.

Recently, both goalkeepers are somehow sharing the responsibility with Asare relegated to bench once again over weekend after he had kept clean sheets in their last three matches.

In a recent interview, the national first-choice option says he isn’t worried at all with the competition he is getting as it will only make him a better goalkeeper.

“I’m not worried about Solomon Agbasi competing me for Hearts of Oak’s number one slot.”

Hearts of Oak remain in fourth place despite the draw with 36 points and will take on their bitter rivals Asante Kotoko in the next round of matches
