Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford commended striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior for his decisive strike against Asante Kotoko, attributing the goal to the player’s invaluable experience.
Obeng Junior’s goal clinched a 1-0 win in the Week 9 Ghana Premier League fixture at Obuasi, marking Heart of Lions' first away win of the season.
The former Hearts of Oak forward capitalized on a defensive error in the 28th minute after Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Mohammed Camara, misjudged a clearance. Obeng Junior calmly slotted the ball into an open net, demonstrating composure that Hayford said comes with years on the pitch.
“That is what we call experience,” Hayford remarked. “He wasn’t panicking. He saw the goalkeeper out of position and calmly took his chance. A younger player might have rushed it, but Obeng Junior’s composure made the difference.”
This goal, his first of the season, elevates Heart of Lions to sixth place with 14 points, as they continue to make strides in the league standings.
