Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has admitted his side wasn't at their best and that's as result of fatigue reason they suffered their first home loss over the weekend against Heart of Lions.
The Giant Killers exhibited what really depicts their name having stunned the giants by 0-1 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium over the weekend in GPL match-week 9.
Kwadwo Obeng Jr's 28th minute goal was enough to earn Lions all three points after capitalizing on a faulty pass from goalkeeper Mohammed Camara.
This is Kotoko's second consecutive league defeat in the ongoing campaign and are currently found on the third position with 15 points, four behind leaders Bibiani Goldstars.
In a post-match interview, the enterprising gaffer said his players looked very tired and slow which was very uncharacteristic of them and feels it's because of the long journey they have embarked on in their recent away matches.
“I think we look slow, we look very slow, we look very tired on the field, I think the stress of the journey. I mean from Kumasi to Anyinase about 9 hours. We played on Sunday,” Prosper Narteh Ogum said after the game.
“We then traveled another 10 hours to Accra to play on Wednesday(against Legon Cities). From Wednesday too we had to travel all the way from Accra to Kumasi. So its 3 games in 7 days and you could see that they were tied.
“I don’t try to give excuses but then it is so obvious. Look at the journey to Anyinase, 9 to 10 hours. I think it was fatigue that was on our part.” he concluded.
Asante Kotoko will travel to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park to take on Bechem United in the next round of matches.
