Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed strong confidence in his side’s chances ahead of the 2025/26 football season, setting his sights on delivering major silverware to the club.
The Tarkwa-based outfit endured a difficult start to last season but showed improvement in the latter stages, though they eventually fell short as regional rivals Bibiani Gold Stars made history by clinching their first-ever league title.
Having won their maiden Ghana Premier League crown just two seasons ago, Medeama are determined to reclaim their place at the top of Ghanaian football. With a squad that blends youth and experience, Tanko believes the Yellow and Mauve are well-positioned to mount a serious challenge.
“The team bonding is very good. The players are responding very well. The fans should expect a different Medeama next season. Honestly, we are aiming to win the Premier League or the FA Cup. We missed out on our target last season, but I’m sure we will make it next season and win laurels,” Tanko told reporters.
Tanko, who took charge midway through last season, has emphasized a renewed sense of motivation and tactical discipline within the squad. The club is currently in Ivory Coast for pre-season, where they have played two friendlies—winning one and losing one—as they intensify preparations ahead of the new campaign, which kicks off in September.
