Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has set his sights on delivering silverware in the upcoming 2025/26 season, with the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup firmly on his radar.
The Tarkwa-based side endured a mixed campaign last term, finishing eighth in the league and falling short in the FA Cup. Despite a difficult start, Medeama showed signs of recovery in the second half of the season, but it wasn’t enough to stop Bibiani Goldstars from clinching their first-ever league title.
Tanko, who took charge midway through last season, is determined to turn Medeama into title contenders. Speaking ahead of the new campaign, he expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and ambition.
“The team bonding is very good. The players are responding very well. The fans should expect a different Medeama next season,” he said.
“Honestly, we are aiming to win the Premier League or the FA Cup. We missed out on our target last season, but I’m sure we will make it next season and win laurels.”
As part of their pre-season programme, the Yellow and Mauves are currently in Ivory Coast, where they have played two friendly matches so far — winning one and losing the other. Tanko believes the camp will sharpen his side for the new season, which kicks off in September.
With renewed determination and fresh preparations, Medeama are hoping to transform last season’s inconsistencies into a genuine title challenge under Tanko’s leadership.
