Asante Kotoko captain and goalkeeper Frederick Asare has expressed his disappointment following the team's 1-1 draw against Berekum Chelsea last Sunday at the Golden City Park.
The match started promisingly for the Porcupine Warriors, with Michael Kyei Dwamena putting them ahead just two minutes into the game. However, their lead was short-lived as Zackaria Fuseini equalized in the 61st minute, leaving both teams to share the spoils.
Reflecting on the match in an interview with the club's media, Asare conveyed the team's frustration, saying, "I was very disappointed after the match because we wanted to make history for ourselves. Playing at that ground wasn’t an easy game, but going into it, we were so much confident in ourselves. We spoke to each other, and we believed in whatever we practiced at the training ground. So, we were a bit disappointed with the result. We deserved to win, but it's quite unfortunate that we didn’t. I think we were not satisfied with the result."
Despite dominating the early exchanges, Kotoko struggled to maintain their advantage as Berekum Chelsea rallied to level the score. The match was marred by controversies, but neither side could find the decisive goal in the remaining minutes.
Asante Kotoko will host Nsoatreman FC at the Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday in an outstanding Ghana Premier League matchday fixture.
