Medeama SC head coach Nebojsa Kapor has expressed his preference for astroturf pitches over traditional national stadium surfaces in Ghana, as his team prepares for their Premier League match against Basake Holy Stars at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park on Sunday.

Kapor's remarks come after he voiced dissatisfaction with the pitch at the University of Ghana Stadium, despite his team's recent 1-0 victory over Legon Cities.

He believes that astroturf provides a superior playing environment, which he sees as beneficial for his team's performance.

"I expect we can play better football because astroturf is a better field than every national field in Ghana," Kapor stated. He acknowledged that while astroturf gives his team an advantage, they must remain cautious, as Basake Holy Stars are also familiar with the surface. "I hope everything will be fine," he added.

Currently sitting atop the league table with a perfect record of two wins, Medeama's success can be attributed to their strong defensive play.

"There’s an excellent feeling inside our team; it’s a perfect moment for us after starting the competition very well," Kapor remarked ahead of the upcoming match.

Kapor highlighted the importance of maintaining a solid defense, noting, "Not conceding is very important. Two clean sheets for our goalkeeper are also giving us more confidence and positive energy." The team aims for a third consecutive victory to sustain their impressive start to the season.
