Hearts of Oak center-back Kelvin Osei Asibey has expressed his delight after the Phobians ended their three-game winless run with a 1-0 victory over Port City FC in Ghana Premier League match-week six over the weekend.

Frank Duku Abora scored the only goal of the game in the 20th minute at the University of Ghana Stadium to hand Hearts all three points, with Asibey earning the Man of the Match award for his stupendous performance.

Speaking after the game, the workaholic defender said the team was determined to return to winning ways and reward their supporters after a difficult run of results.

“I’m so happy and excited. All we had to do was to win this because we were on three game winless run and also make our fans happy. That was our motivation.

Also, he urged patience, describing the league as a marathon and acknowledging that teams would face both easy and difficult matches during the season.

“The league is like a marathon. Some games will be easy, others will be difficult. We spoke to the players to stay calm, especially after the winless run, as we believe the win will start coming,” he added.

Hearts of Oak will now look to build on the victory when they face Vision FC in their next league fixture, hoping to maintain their momentum and continue climbing up the table.
