Hearts of Oak majority shareholder, Togbe Afede XIV have revealed that the ambition of the club is to build the best team in Africa.
Hearts of Oak have won one CAF champions league, one CAF Super Cup, CAF Confederations Cup, twenty-one Ghana Premier League(GPL) titles and eleven FA Cups.
Hearts of Oak are in Kumasi to continue their pre-season after their elimination from the GHALCA Top 6 tournament.
The Accra-based side will be competing in the CAF Confederations Cup this season after winning the MTN FA Cup last season.
Speaking to the clubs supporters in Kumasi, Togbe Afede XIV says they will build the best club in Africa.
"Our objective is to build Accra Hearts of Oak into a preeminent club in Africa- where preeminent means the best club in Africa," he said.
"We know the importance of our players in the achievement of our objectives. So over the years we've sort to recruit the best for our club and you will see it in the recruitment we've made this year in particular.
"We've players from Cameroon, Central African Republic and of course we've a few more in the pipeline who will becoming to join us.
"The good news is that everywhere I went I'm Africa, the name Hearts of Oak is well known. I was in DR Congo and they've been so anxious to send their players to Accra Hearts of Oak. I was in Zimbabwe and they remember the battle we fought with their leading club in the past, they want their players to join Hearts of Oak.”
"And so we intend to put together a squad that can rival the best on the continent," he declared.
Hearts of Oak will face Aduana Stars in the opening match of the GPL this weekend.
