Bechem United assistant coach Mallam Yahaya has expressed confidence in his side’s readiness ahead of their Ghana Premier League showdown against Asante Kotoko this weekend.
The Hunters will travel to Kumasi to face the Porcupine Warriors in a crucial Week 16 fixture of the ongoing league campaign at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Mallam Yahaya acknowledged the stature of Kotoko, describing the Kumasi-based club as the biggest team in Ghana and one of the giants on the African continent. However, he insisted that respect for their opponents will not stop Bechem United from competing strongly on matchday.
“We are still learning and correcting our mistakes so that we can improve. Kotoko is the biggest team in Ghana, and this is a league match,” he told Bechem United TV.
“Although we respect them a lot, we will put that aside on the field. Our boys are in form, and if they are able to play well, they will give Kotoko a tough match,” he added.
Mallam Yahaya further underlined Bechem United’s ambition to leave Kumasi with a positive result, stressing that the team believes it can secure at least a point.
“I’m confident that we can pick either one point or all three points from the match,” he said.
The Week 16 Ghana Premier League encounter between Asante Kotoko and Bechem United is scheduled for a 3:30 pm kick-off on Sunday, December 28, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
