Berekum Chelsea defender Michael Awuah Mensah says the club will do everything they can to avoid relegation from the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The Bibires have struggled for consistency this season and are currently in the relegation zone. After 25 matches, the former league champions sit 17th on the league table with 28 points.
Despite their league problems, the Bibires have performed well in the Ghana FA Cup as they have reached the quarter-finals of the competition.
They will take on Nations FC on Sunday, 15 March 2026 at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs.
Speaking ahead of the important match, the former Accra Hearts of Oak defender said the team still believes it can change its fortunes.
“I will plead with our fans to exercise patience and pray for us during these difficult times,” he said.
“We will do everything possible to avoid relegation at the end of the season.”
Awuah Mensah is expected to play a key role in Chelsea’s defence as they prepare for the FA Cup clash. His experience could be important as the team looks to build confidence and move out of the relegation zone.
