The first-leg matches of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League quarter-final delivered exciting moments in all four matches played across the continent over the weekend.
There were two home victories fand two draws recorded while none of the clubs playing away from home managed a win on the road.
Defending champions Pyramids FC were held to a thrilling 1-1 draw away in Morocco by AS FAR, while Mamelodi Sundowns produced the most dominant performance of the round with a commanding 3-0 win over Stade Malien - who had a stellar run in the group phase.
Elsewhere, Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman secured a valuable away draw against RS Berkane, while Espérance de Tunis narrowly edged grand masters Al Ahly in a tightly contested encounter in Radès.
Following the weekend action, Mamelodi Sundowns dominated the quarter-final, first leg Best XI with four players, while Pyramids FC and Al Hilal each contributed two players.
Espérance, AS FAR, RS Berkane, all had one player each, with Al Ahly the only side without a representative in the selection.
The standout performer of the round was Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau, who opened the scoring against Stade Malien and delivered a commanding display at the back. His teammate Nuno Santos also impressed by providing two assists in the same match.
In attack, Colombian forward Brayan León Muñiz scored Sundowns’ second goal and produced an energetic performance leading the line, further underlining the Masandawanas’ dominance in the list.
For Al Hilal, Abdelrazig Omer made a strong impact after scoring just 13 minutes into their clash with RS Berkane, putting the Moroccan hosts under pressure before leaving the pitch in the 71st minute through injury, making way for Ghanaian international Kamaradini Mamudu.
