Ghana head coach Otto Addo extended his congratulations to Sudan following the Black Stars' defeat in their recent match on Tuesday.
The Ghana national team faced Sudan in Libya during Round 4 of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). In their previous encounter, Sudan had held Ghana to a goalless draw.
Speaking to the media team of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Addo praised Sudan for their passion and determination in securing all three points. "Congratulations to Sudan. Coach Kwesi Appiah has always been a gentleman before and after the game. They did well. They showed passion in their match, and I would like to congratulate them for this," he said.
Despite the disappointing results from the two matches against Sudan, Addo commended his technical team for their unwavering support. He also noted that he had engaged in discussions with his players following the game and is focused on looking ahead.
"I want to thank the team for at least trying, knowing that it was not good enough. We had a good talk afterward, and I had individual discussions with players to address certain issues and moments from the match. I hope it was beneficial. Everyone was down; it was really, really hard to take," Addo reflected. He added, "I also want to thank the whole technical staff for supporting me, even now after the game in our worst days, because we as Ghana should qualify for the AFCON."
After Round 4 of the qualifiers, the Black Stars currently sit third in the standings, trailing behind Angola and Sudan.
