Ghanaian prodigy, Ernest Nuamah's mother, Regina Nuamah has sadly explained how her son was a slow starter growing up and how football has changed his life completely.
The mercurial winger has been superb and a standout performer for FC Nordsjaelland, having played an instrumental role to aid them finish on the second place in the 2022/23 Danish topflight championship.
Despite missing out on the league title, the 19-year-old scored twelve goals and provided four assists in 30 appearances for the Tigers.
He picked three awards at the end of the season in Denmark; thus Young Player of the Year, the Spring Best Player award (chosen by the Superliga head coaches) and the Player of the Year award (voted by the Superliga players).
The 19 year old also played an instrumental role in helping the Black Meteors secure qualification to the 2023 TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Cup of Nations and he will definitely make the final squad.
In an interview with Eben TV on YouTube, Regina Nuamah- a grocery shop owner in Asafo and Ernest's mother, has recounted on how her son didn't begin well growing up but has eventually had football to change his life.
“To be very honest, we didn't want him to play football. We wanted him to go to school because he was ill-educated. There is a woman, who is our neighbour. She didn't have TV, we had one."
“So, all the children would gather in our room. What used to make me feel sad was that when texts pop up on the screen, all the children will be reading. I would ask him ‘Nana, can you read what just appeared? he would just stare at me. He is also the quiet sort, so I would ask him, and he would walk out. It really hurt me,” she added.
Ernest Nuamah due to his blistering form has earned his first Black Stars call up for the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar.
