Sporting Kansas City made their first move of the 2016 summer transfer window as they announced on Tuesday that they had signed 22-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Appiah.
Appiah was originally drafted by the Colorado Rapids as the no. 15 overall pick in the 2016 MLS Superdraft. He was loaned out to the Charlotte Independence (USL) and played two matches for them before parting ways with the Rapids on June 30.
Appiah spent five years at the University of Cincinnati, where he had seven goals in 65 appearances.
This brings the number of players eligible for the senior roster up to 22, as seven players are currently loaned out. The MLS roster limit is 28 players. Appiah will be available for selection immediately.
