Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Abukari Damba has picked Jojo Wollacott as his best and believes he's exhibited what it takes to command the post heading into the World Cup.

South African-based Richard Ofori will currently sit at the bench due to injuries whiles the other choices struggle to command a place due to what is described as poor output when handed the mantle.

However, Jojo Wollacott stepped in subsequently and has been consistent and amazing since, warranting him the opportunity to remain Ghana's number one till date.

Typical example is his heroic and tremendous display against Nigeria in Abuja in the World Cup qualifiers playoffs.

Speaking with GNA, Abukari Damba has strongly route for the Charlton Athletic goalie since he's convinced him the most amongst the other options with his consistency.

"We played the qualifiers and had one goalkeeper who had shown consistencies throughout, that is Jojo Wollacott the most used among all the keepers so far, all things being equal he might be the first choice."

"One of our challenges is that we don’t have goalkeepers who are very gifted in the team in as much as we would not be satisfied with their performances because of comparisons."

"We see other goalkeepers playing for their clubs and their nations performing well so we do comparisons but I’m very positive that we can do well."

Ghana is paired in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay. The 2022 FIFA World Cup will begin on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
