The ex-Black Stars player, Bernard Don Bortey, has launched a scathing attack on Black Stars technical handlers, playing body and head coach Avram Grant, claiming they are doing nothing to make the Black Stars team a power house in world football.

The one-time Accra Hearts of Oak hitman is irked about the way the senior national team is being managed by the technical handlers of the side.

The four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions have failed to win a single trophy since 1982,the last time they laid their hands on the prestigious continental accolade and Bortey believes the selfish acts by the caretakers of the team is causing misfortunes as the team tries to end its trophyless jinx.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old speedster believes the GFA boss,Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi is at no fault but rather doing his best for the betterment of the nation's football activities.Bortey argues that the GFA capo is being influenced by some bad characters within his outfit due to their selfish gains.

"Mr Nyantakyi is a very good man and he can't be faltered at all in anyway,Just that he is being surrounded by bunch of selfish people who always look for what will go into their pockets. These people are the very ones that are costing the team by bringing bad fortunes to the national side," Bortey told Kumasi-based Alpha Radio in an interview.

The outspoken player did not mince words in his stinging potshots on the Israilite gaffer, Avram Grant, for his quota in making the Black Stars team a less force to reckon with.

"The Head Coach,Avram Grant, should bow down his head in shame for making the Black Stars team look like a third-tier side." he continued with his tirade attacks on the ex-Chelsea manager.

Again, the former FC Panthers forward descended heavily on the current crop of the Black Stars squad, branding them as unpatriotic. He believes that most of them do not deserve to don the national colours of the team and yet they continue receiving constant call-ups and has questioned the criteria used in their invitation.

"Most of the current crop of the Black Stars players are not patriotic to the nation. They only play because of money and nothing else. The coach's selection criteria for call-ups is not the best. Most of these current squad do get invitation not on merits. It's just a favour that they get to play for the national side," he fumed.

Bernad Don Bortey is now playing for a second-tier side Samatex FC following an unsuccessful stints in abroad.
