Kofi Owusu, a former player of Berekum Chelsea has justified Sulley Muntari's assertion about the bad condition of Ghana Premier League locker rooms, linking the disgusting smells to the constant use of charms, or "juju," by clubs.
Owusu points out that clubs commonly dump off ritual objects after matches, and are mostly left untouched, causing the smell to permeate.
"When there are leftovers, they dump them in the washroom. Sometimes, the team won’t play their next home game for two weeks, which is why the smell lingers," Owusu told Angel FM.
"Also, some people don't want the washrooms cleaned because they believe it could be a form of spiritual preparation for their return to the venue."
Owusu's comments buttress Muntari’s previous statements to 3Sports, where he mentioned dressing outside the locker rooms due to the "bad smell" and lack of unmannerliness for cleanliness.
