Former Black Stars defender, Habib Mohammed reveals that Stephen Appiah told them that anyone who isn't ready should go home after their defeat to Italy in the 2006 World Cup.
He insisted that Stephen Appiah is the best Black Stars captain he knows.
Ghana made her debut appearance at the World Cup in Germany 2006.
Ghana lost to Italy in their first game by 2:0 courtesy Adrea Pirlo and Vincenzo Iaquinta strikes.
Ghana came back stronger in the second game against Czech Republic, as Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari found the back of the net to give the Black Stars' hope of qualifying from the group.
Haminu Dramani and captain Stephen Appiah gave Ghana a 2:1 victory over the United States of America to qualify from the group stage, before eventually losing to Brazil in the round of 16.
Habib Mohammed, who was an integral part of the team, reveals that during the warm up to the Czech Republic game, Stephen Appiah inspired the team to victory with his challenging pep talk.
"I quite remember we lost our first match against Italy but the next whiles we were warming up, that's why I said Stephen Appiah is the best captain, because truth is one during our time that's what I can say," he said on Onua TV.
"A captain that atleast when the first eleven were warming up and he was talking to us that are we ready to go home or? Because we had lost our first game so if you want to go home then you have to leave now but we were not ready, so qhiles we were warming uphe was talking to us so, you will psych yourself. I believe sometimes we all, the players must know that it isn't only Dede (Ayew) who has a responsibility but all of them," he added.
Ghana will appear at their fourth World Cup after missing the last edition in Russia 2018.
