Black Stars new assistant coach, Roger De Sá says the newly constituted technical team is fully committed to restoring national pride as Ghana prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The technical team, headed by veteran coach Carlos Queiroz, was appointed weeks after Otto Addo’s dismissal in March following Ghana’s back-to-back defeats to Austria and Germany.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia for the tournament in North America this summer, and De Sá believes the team can compete strongly if players perform to their full potential.
Speaking on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, the South African coach emphasised unity and purpose within the technical setup.
“We are here to do our best and make Ghanaians happy. If Carlos does his job, there is none better than him,” De Sá said.
“We will take our targets one step at a time. If our players perform to their abilities, we have a realistic chance of progressing,” he added.
The Black Stars will continue their preparations with an international friendly against Mexico on May 22 before taking on Wales on June 2.
Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on June 17 before facing England at Boston Stadium on June 23. Their final Group L fixture will be against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 27.
The Black Stars will be hoping to improve on disappointing group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022 as they aim for a stronger campaign at the global showpiece to be staged across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
