Accra Hearts of Oak star Caleb Amankwah has been praised by sections of the media following his recent form.

The former Aduana Stars defender has been in brilliant form over these past months, scoring crucial goals for the Phobians.

Despite a slow start to his Hearts career, the WAFA graduate is gradually becoming an important member of the squad.

His ability to play in midfield has helped him to get more playing time due to the absence of Nurudeen Abdul Aziz.

The 25-year old is a calm yet pacy, aggressive, front-footed and intelligent defender, with an unbelievable reading of the game.

Caleb, despite his defensive abilities, adds more going forward. His ability to smell goals makes him dangerous in the opponent's penalty box.

He has since taken over from Afutu, scoring some cracking goals to save the Phobians on several occasions.

His volley in the MTN FA Cup final against Bechem United, his header against Asante Kotoko and his recent strike against Real Bamako in the CAF Confederation Cup makes him one of the dangerous players in the penalty box.

Caleb's performances have continued into the 22/23 season and he has been one of, if not Hearts' most reliable player. He is adding more variation to his game.

Despite his new role, he has not, even for once, flapped or struggled this season.

He has impressed tremendously whether as defensive midfielder or part of the back four.

If Caleb should continue with his rich vein of form, Annor Walker must give him a shot in the Ghana squad for the 2023 CHAN tournament in Algeria.
