Ghana coach Otto Addo has shed light on the strategy he used in selecting players ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola.
The former Dortmund talent gaffer quashed down the notion that he favors foreign based talents, explaining that his main focus is to bring on-board the best players readily available.
"For me it is never about local or non local it is about the best players but if we can find good players and that is why I said it before I want to really really try and watch as many local live matches as possible," he told Peace FM.
"I can find one or two players because it is always very difficult for the videos now I have the possibility because I am not with Dortmund anymore.
"I will watch a lot of matches and if it is a possibility I will find someone where I think he is better than another player then why not,"
Addo has currently handed call-ups to 23 players for the forthcoming qualifiers, including just one Ghana based player, Asante Kotoko's goalkeeper Frederick Asare.
The team held their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday before jetting to Kumasi to continue with preparations.
Ghana will clash with Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, September 5 and will then travel to Morocco for their second game against Niger on September 9, hoping to snatch a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
