Ghana U-20 coach, Desmond Ofei has defined his team's objectives ahead of the upcoming 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
Ofei emphasized a one step at a time approach as they aim to secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Speaking before the tournament actually began, Ofei underscored the importance of concentration on the immediate task, which is advancing beyond the group stage.
“Our immediate goal is to get out of the group stage,” he said. “From there, we take it one step at a time. Of course, the long-term aim is to win the tournament and qualify for the U-20 World Cup, but we’ll do that by staying consistent and focused on the process.”
“We believe in our squad,” Ofei added. “The talent is there, but it’s about execution, teamwork, and mentality. We are preparing the boys not just to compete, but to represent Ghana with pride and ambition.”
Ghana, a former U-20 World Cup winner, will be aiming to recapture its dominance at youth level, rise to the occasion and once again become a force on the continental and global stage.
Under Ofei’s guidance, the Black Satellites have shown promise in recent friendlies and qualifiers, with a blend of technical quality and discipline.
