Ghanaian duo Caleb Amankwah and Umar Bashiru, celebrated their first silverware in Ethiopia as they helped CBE SA (a.k.a. Ethiopia Nigd Bank) won the 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League title.
Amankwah, who's a former star defender of Hearts of Oak was in fine form in his maiden season, racking up 2 goals in 20 league matches.
For Bashiru, former WAFA and Asante Kotoko midfielder joined Ethiopia's Insurance FC in 2022, making an instant impact, firing on all cylinders in the top flight league.
Following his impressive performances at Insurance FC, Bashiru made a switch to the newly-promoted Premier League side, Commercial Bank Ethiopia SA, having gained promotion just last season.
Bashiru was instrumental for Nigd Bank in the recently concluded season, scoring seven goals in 30 games.
The former Karela United dazzler provided an assist on the final match-day as his club recorded a covincing 2-0 win over Ethiopian Insurance at the Hawassa Kenema Stadium on Saturday, 6 July.
The sweet victory over Ethiopian Insurance garrisoned the title for Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
