The Black Stars will begin their training camp today (Wednesday), 12 November, in Nagoya, Japan, as they prepare for this year’s Kirin Cup and a pair of international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
Head coach Otto Addo has called up 22 players for the trip, with the squad expected to assemble in Nagoya on Wednesday before training sessions begin. The team will face Japan’s Blue Samurais on Friday, followed by a clash with South Korea in Seoul on Saturday.
Ghana will be without several key players for the tournament, including Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Alexander Djiku, Ernest Nuamah, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Despite the absences, Addo has handed opportunities to three debutants, among them Montreal CF forward and former Germany youth international Prince Osei Owusu.
The team will train again on Thursday as final preparations continue for Friday’s meeting with Japan. They will then fly to Seoul on Saturday to complete the Asia tour with their second friendly of the window against South Korea.
Ghana’s focus remains firmly on next summer’s FIFA World Cup in North America after missing out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
