The Black Stars shot-stoppeer has expressed his displeasure over recent news from the Ghanaian media over a purported comment about the West African nation's opponent at the World Cup.

Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott has shrugged off reports in the local media that he tipped Portugal to finish on top of Ghana's group at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It was reported by some media outlets in Ghana that the 26-year-old custodian in an interview stated that Portugal will emerge on top of Group H because they have five-time Ballon D'or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in their fold.

“I would like to make clear to all the fans, my supporters, GFA and all the nation of Ghana, that I have not made such statement in the media nor given any interviews about our opponents as it has been said in the Ghanaian media,” Wollacott wrote on his official twitter account.

“We are Ghana/Ghanaians we don’t fear who our opponents are or who we face or who we come across in a game of football. It’s a shame that some of the media has to go to this length to try and tarnish my image in Ghana”

Wollacott is expected to be Ghana's number one at the 2022 FIFA World Cup following his recent output for the senior national team of Ghana.
