Kpando Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford says his side may not have made any headline-grabbing signings, but they have the quality to challenge Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup.

The fixture, set for August. 15 at the Accra Sports Stadium, will pit the Ghana Premier League club against the Phobians in a pre-season test as part of the annual Homowo festival celebrations.

“We have not signed any extraordinary player but we have the team to face Hearts of Oak on Sunday,” Hayford said in the pre-match conference.

“We're working underground. Our focus has been on building cohesion and working with the squad we trust.”

Heart of Lions, who secured second-placed finish last season in the Ghana Premier League, will be seeking to make an early statement against a Hearts side now under the leadership of newly appointed coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

The annual charity game is part of the annual Homowo celebrations and will see Heart of Lions face fellow Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak in a contest aimed at promoting unity and peace while giving both sides a competitive test ahead of the new football season.
